As a member of the Nordic Racers Ski Club in good
standing, you get:
Insurance Coverage
Your membership fees, and signing of the
club and Cross Country BC
waivers, allow us to provide you with insurance
coverage through CCBC. This protects you, the club,
and the executive in the event of injury while
participating in a club-sanctioned event.
High Quality Instruction
The club runs at least two significant training
opportunities during the season
(Silver Star Ski Camp
in November, and the
Learn to Loppet
series), as well as
dryland training
in the fall.
Discounts on Gear, Ski Passes, and Services
Club membership entitles you to 10-15% discounts at
Sigge's
Sport Villa*,
10% off selected services from
Active
Life Physiotherapy,
and up to 10% off or more on season passes at
Cypress Mountain
[see below].
*Sigge's gives 10% off
regularly-priced items except
once a year
on Club Night, when the discount is 15%.
2009’s Club Night is Wednesday,
November 4, starting at
7:00 p.m.
Please identify yourself as a Nordic Racers
club member to the staff.
In addition, you are eligible to receive preferred rates
on room rentals across Canada with
Sandman
Hotels, Inns & Suites
and on car rentals in western Canada with
Avis Rent-A-Car.

Cross Country BC’s website.
Cheaper Accommodation at Camps and Races
Your membership allows us to operate, and make
financial transactions such as reserving budget
accommodation at Silver Star and at supported races
such as the Nickel Plate Loppet and
Cariboo Marathon.
Last year, we reserved 10 houses at Silver Star for
the Silver Star Ski Camp in November. When you book
that many rooms, you get a serious discount.
Subsidized Skill Development
Membership gives you access to club grants for courses
in coaching, officials development, race organization,
sports first aid, etc.
Social Events
The Nordic Racers provide free
hot chocolate
at Hollyburn every Wednesday during the ski
season. The club also organizes potluck dinners at
the Silver Star training camp, a Wine and Cheese
evening at the beginning of the season,
a BBQ dinner at the AGM, and a dinner and
awards ceremony at the end of the season.
Ongoing Communication
We maintain a website and regular e-mail newsletter to
keep members informed about events and opportunities
to ski and train both during and outside the ski
season. The website has areas to buy and sell gear.
On-line Functions
Nordic Racers members can sign up on-line
for events / functions / clinics using
Zone4.
The Satisfaction of Supporting Cross-country Skiing
Supporting the club means supporting the growth of
this wonderful sport and the many programs offered by
the Nordic Racers Ski Club, such as a comprehensive
Junior Nordics program
for skiers 10-18, and sponsorship of
a sit-ski for disabled skiers.
The Vancouver Skiers
is a non profit club offering organized day and overnight
tours by bus and carpool to various ski areas. They offer
trips to the Larch Hills (Salmon Arm) and Cariboo loppets,
and also have monthly meetings from December to March.
For a few seasons now, the Vancouver Skiers and
Nordic Racers have offered joint memberships
— if you join both clubs, your total membership fees
can be reduced by $10 (or more).
How this works:
- Join your first club as a regular member, and pay
the usual membership fee.
- Join your second club, but pay the reduced fee
for joint members.
- You've just saved some money!
Why this works: part of your membership fee goes to
Cross Country BC,
for insurance and other purposes. If you belong to
both clubs, we don't need to duplicate this payment,
so the savings can be passed on to you.
